No New Year Resolutions
Happy New Year !
We are exactly one week into the year 2013. That means we have just fifty-one more weeks to go. Around this time is when everyone makes New Year Resolutions and declare what they are going to do in the new year.
I stopped making new year resolutions years ago, after realizing I never kept them and was setting myself up for failure. The defeat I would feel after failing to meet lofty, unrealistic new year goals would deflate me. So I stopped making them.At the beginning of last year, my goal was to continue doing what I love and love what I do, which is helping people realize they are not alone by sharing victorious testimonies through Breathe Again Magazine & Breathe Again Radio Show . After working full time for the past 21 years I walked away from my corporate career to pursue my dreams in business and ministry. ( No, not my dream in Hollywood, although I do think I can sing )
Leaving a steady stream of income is something I’m still getting used to.Being a salaried employee I was paid if I showed up or not. If I don’t show up as an entrepreneur, I don’t get paid. No paid vacation or paid sick days.
It’s not easy, and far more work than having a 9 to 5, but it is well worth it . To be home when my children get off the bus is priceless.
My baby girl told me she never wants me to go back to work. 🙂
2012 was a year of CHANGE for me.
Over the past 6 months, I learned things about myself that even I ,was not aware of. A mixture of good, bad and some ugliness rose to the surface. A form of ugliness that was deeply buried since my childhood reappeared a few months ago, which caused many tears and flashbacks from a very dark place in my life. I will continue to deal with and heal this wounded area inside of me in the upcoming months. What we don’t deal with will eventually deal with us.

Do I Stay in My Marriage After an Affair?
Let me start by saying your Christian Marriage can be saved. It is a decision the both of you must make. You cannot save your marriage after an affair alone. Your spouse must be in agreement and willing to go through the process. In my last post, Healing After an Affair I shared 5 steps to assist you with your healing process.
When conducting workshops or coaching, I always say, “Taking my husband back was the easy part, rebuilding the trust was very hard.” Back then, I wish I had someone that understood what I was feeling and could encourage me by sharing their victorious testimony on how the Lord restored their marriage after an affair.
Women that want to stay in their marriage after an affair need help from people like myself. I understand what it feels like to have your heart broken by the one you love. I know what it feels like to want to throw in the towel and give up. I know what it feels like to cry a river. Support from your friends and family is a blessing, but to interact with a person that has been where you are is priceless.
The decision to stay with your spouse is one that only you can make. I encourage you to shut out the noise around you. By noise I mean people in your ear. These are family and friends that mean well, but can be a hindrance during the process. The choice is yours. Take some time and answer the questions below.
- Do you love him /her?
- How many years have you invested in your marriage?
- Have you forgiven him?
- Are you willing to fight for your marriage?
- Have you asked him/ her all the questions you need to know?
- Do you agree not to throw the affair up in his / her face during arguments?
The decision to stay in your marriage after an affair is a major choice. Take your time, seek the Lord and pray about it. If you allow the process to work and the Lord to heal, you will be able to go back and help that next sister that will cry the same tears you’ve cried. Your testimony is not for you, it is for someone else. Be strong and stay encouraged. I made it and so WILL you!
